📖 What is GDACS?
The Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System is a joint platform of the European Commission and the United Nations. It combines real-time data (GLOFAS flood forecasts, JMA cyclone tracks, USGS earthquakes and more) into global alerts with automatic severity classification: Red = most severe disaster, Orange = medium, Green = limited impact expected. For travellers and risk managers, GDACS is one of the most reliable early indicators of large-scale events — from storm surges to catastrophic flooding.
