Storms and Hurricanes on Vacation 2026: Safety Guide
Stürme sind die häufigste Wettergefahr für Reisende weltweit. Ob Orkane in Europa (wie Sturm Sabine 2020), Tornados in den USA oder Taifune in Ostasien — Windgeschwindigkeiten über 120 km/h können Gebäude beschädigen, Bäume entwurzeln und den Verkehr lahmlegen. Im Sommer 2026 hat bereits eine Reihe von Stürmen Europa und Asien getroffen. Dieser Leitfaden hilft Reisenden, sich richtig zu verhalten.
Sturm-Typen und ihre Gefahren
Europäische Orkane (Winterstürme)
Europäische Orkane entstehen im Nordatlantik und treffen vor allem zwischen Oktober und März auf West- und Mitteleuropa. Sie erreichen Windspitzen von 120-200 km/h. Bekannte Beispiele: Lothar (1999, 110 Tote), Kyrill (2007, 47 Tote), Sabine (2020).
Der DWD verwendet folgende Warnstufen:

Tornados
Tornados sind kurzlebige, aber extrem zerstörerische Windwirbel. Die USA verzeichnen jährlich über 1.200 Tornados. Die Enhanced Fujita (EF)-Skala reicht von EF0 (105-137 km/h) bis EF5 (über 322 km/h).
Tornado-Gebiete:
Taifune (Westpazifik)
Taifune sind das pazifische Äquivalent zu Hurrikanen. Sie treten hauptsächlich zwischen Juli und November auf und betreffen die Philippinen, Taiwan, Japan, Südkorea und die chinesische Küste. Taifun Rai (2021) forderte auf den Philippinen über 400 Tote.
